Carrie and Nadia will be reading from their poetry books, discussing the craft of poetry, the twists and turns of writing about family, healing through writing, and more. Then they will lead participants through some writing exercises and answer questions.

Carrie Bennett is the author of three poetry books, most recently, Lost Letters and Other Animals, which centers on her experience reuniting with her estranged grandmother in the late stages of Alzheimer's and exploring the limits of language. She holds an MFA from Iowa Writers’ Workshop and teaches writing at Boston University.
Nadia Colburn is the author of the poetry book The High Shelf (starred Kirkus review), which explores family life against the backdrop of personal, social, and environmental violence. Her poetry and prose have appeared in over 80 publications. She holds a PhD from Columbia and is the founder of Align Your Story Writing School.
