This module I ask you to write from joy. What does that mean to you? How do you respond in your mind and also in your body? Working with joy can be a deeply empowering experience.
This week we will look closely at a variety of passages that explore joy even in difficult situations. I personally find these pieces a joy to read.
This week we will explore a variety of writing prompts to help us work with joy, a rewarding, but also a tricky emotion.
Start with the short video to learn the yoga exercises we are going to be doing this week. This week we’re doing some new movements and some movements we’ve done in past weeks, to continue working on flexibility and core strength, and to get comfortable in our bodies so we can get out of our own way and make space for joy. We start with sufi grind again, then stretch our hamstrings in alternate leg stretches. Then we will come into archer pose on both sides and then stretch pose again. Finally we will learn a new pose, ego eradicator. I also invite you to take a few minutes with your favorite dance music and dance. When you’re comfortable with the exercises, you can practice with the audio link.
You can chant with the videos below; just listen and close your eyes. I’ve included two videos–one that is almost 11 minutes and one that is 22 minutes. You can see which music you prefer or practice with different videos and times on different days. And of course if you want to practice with either of these meditations for a shorter amount of time, that is completely fine!
In this module I provide some links
so you can read more deeply in the literature of joy.
