How are you doing in these volatile times? Today, I want to share one of my poems from my book, I Say the Sky:
May I Greet You
as you might, in your best moments, greet yourself:
not fearful, not turning in judgment, not asking permission.
The gates are wide and many: look, here, this egg on the table
ready for breakfast, this tangerine, the winter sun
through the closed window: all are before you.
Taste. Remember.
And if you have no home to remember?
And no window to close? And if you are afraid
because the guns are not far, the fists,
may I extend a warmer welcome: may this page
also be your home, something to wrap around you.
And if there is no comfort,
let this be understanding. And if the end
is not what you wish and near,
let this be the light within you that has nothing to do
with outcomes. You:
beautiful as any flower, any agate—
Come: Touch the rough stone.
***
May this poem find you just as you are, in whatever state of wonder or hardship—or both—you find yourself in.
These are truly not normal times; sometimes it seems that our public sphere has gone quite literally crazy. The lies that are being spread are terrible. I am trying to resist; I'm making calls, writing letters.
And I also believe that an important form of resistance is cultivating the good, the sane. I see wonder and kindness, beauty and love around me all the time.
I'm trying to pay attention—to it all. I turn again to the page. And I invite you, also, to pay attention, resist, cultivate what you believe in, and turn to the page. Reading and writing can be forms of companionship. What wants to emerge through your own writing?
With much love,
Nadia

Dear Nadia
I love your poems. Reflecting between light and darkness. Then cultivating a field of joy and gladness from deep within by focusing on flowers growing just the other side of my window. Exquisite design and craftsmanship radiating warmth and beauty…I’m conscious of its love both for the flower and for me..
For my uniqueness. What entity could create me?
Only God, who created all of heaven and earth, along with millions of people, each with their own unique fingerprints… how wonderful you are!!!!!
Thank you Jesus for loving me (and every one else) so deeply that you chose to lay down your life as a payment for all of my sins in my life (and every one else’s wrongdoing) as the greatest over payment in history…. You willingly provided your body, mind and soul, to be tortured and then crucified until death…
Then on the third day you came back to life… gloriously resurrected by God our Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ I love You.
Thankyou for living on the inside of me..
When you created every single person , You put a God shaped hole in everyone’s heart.
Waiting for an invitation to come inside.
You are the perfect gentleman… who waits perfectly still until you are invited to come on in.
Then you throw a party in heaven as your excitement and joy floods over into abundant
Thank you so much Brian, for your lovely note.
