I hope you are staying well! So what's up with my blog post title?
I'll get to that in just a moment. 🙂
First, a quick reminder: If you haven't had a chance to watch yet, today is the last day to watch the Free Masterclass Recording!
Okay, so why am I writing about sexuality, and why did I write the blog post title that way?
Our creative lives and our s&x lives both come to their full expression when we can listen deeply to our bodies.
But for most of us, that channel has been, at least in part, cut off. And most of us aren't even aware that the channel has been in part cut off.
I wrote the word "s&x" that way in the heading so that the spam filters don't stop this message from going through.
Let's pause a moment here and note why that is: S&x—physical intimacy and pleasure—our natural birthrights, have been so co-opted by abusive money-oriented forces that we can't even write the word freely without it being misinterpreted.
Many of us, especially as women, don't realize the millions of subtle ways in which our bodies, including our intimacy and pleasure, have been affected by larger systems. Most of us have, on some level, needed to protect ourselves; we've gone into disguise-mode.
But when we become conscious of these patterns, when we listen to our bodies with support and a safe community, we come into new sources of healing and of energy. We come out of hiding.
This is creative work. In yoga systems, the root chakras are associated with creativity, security, and sexuality—it's all connected!
In Align Your Story, we work on those lower chakras through yoga at the same time that we develop our writing and reading skills so that we can come to listen more deeply, with greater trust, and allow new forms of creativity, connection and pleasure to emerge.
Because AYS is a community of only-women, and because the writing you do in this course is for yourself before you share it with anyone else, many students also find they are able to experience and express parts of themselves in this course that they never fully explored before.
I was very moved recently when one of my Align Your Story students told me that an unexpected benefit of the course for her was greater enjoyment of her own body and greater closeness with her beloved husband of many decades.
Carol signed up for Align Your Story because she is a life-long reader and writer; and when she talked about what she most loved about the course, she also talked about the close attention the course gives to literature; but what most surprised and delighted Carol, as a result of the class, was her new relationship to her own body, a deeper ability to allow herself to really enjoy it, and a new relationship to intimacy itself.
I'm excited to share this method because it's powerful—and it will take you where YOU are meant to go.
The areas that you will come to develop are uniquely your own. This method will guide you there. Pam became a professional documentary filmmaker after working with this method. Jennie became a dream worker. Lisa wrote and published her first book. Gina not only published her first pieces, but also had a new, much more spacious and accepting relationship to her difficult past.
(If you haven't already, get a taste of this method in my Free Masterclass. Whether you continue in the longer class or not, I want to share this method with you! It's been wonderful to read people's messages about how the free masterclass inspired them. Get a pen and paper, a cup of tea, and enjoy it. The recording will be available only through the end of the day TODAY!)
This work of deep listening to the body and of coming into clarity with our story is something most of us need to cultivate (I know I've needed to); it's counter-cultural, liberating, and empowering.
Align Your Story gives you the tools to show up with your full emotional and creative range, work through first drafts and final pieces, and write work that you love from a life that is aligned. This process is iterative: we do it again and again. As we move through time and change ourselves, our relationship to our story and voice continues to evolve. Each time students come through the course, they go deeper and have a new experience.
I love seeing the transformations that students have not only in their writing, but also in their lives as a result of Align Your Story.
Take a moment to watch Carol (whose story I shared above) talk about her experience in Align Your Story and read and watch some of the other testimonials as well.

During the event, which is titled, "I Say the Sky: Poetry, the Natural World, the Climate Crisis, and Connection," I will read from I Say the Sky and lead everyone in meditations, prompts, and a discussion around our own inner and outer weathers. There will be time for writing and discussion, and we’ll explore ways to create bridges between poetry and environmental engagement and advocacy work.
