I have exciting news: My new book, I Say the Sky, is now available early in the U.S. (and is on its way elsewhere)!

Exciting news: I Say the Sky is available early! 3

It was so meaningful to have a box of my books arrive a few days before Thanksgiving. The official publication date is January 16, but to my delight, it's ready almost two months early.

It is thrilling–and slightly surreal!–to hold the book in my hands.

I have to admit: Opening the package, I was nervous; I almost expected some big typo right there in the middle of the first page! And I had to chuckle at my own mind for finding a way to bring a little anxiety into this joyous celebratory moment 🙂

Many have asked me: Why is the book ready early? My understanding is that in the pandemic, there were a lot of supply chain issues. So to ensure the book would be ready by January 16, the publisher sent the book to press early, with plenty of time to spare, just in case they encountered any delays–but I’m grateful to say everything went smoothly, and the book is available ahead of schedule!

So now, if you’re in the U.S., you can order the book and have it delivered to your doorstep in just a matter of days! If you reside outside of the U.S., it should be ready for pre-order soon; please bear with me–the international distributors are just learning that the book is ready early.

Here is how you can order I Say the Sky in the U.S.:

It was an honor to receive book endorsements from some of my favorite writers:

Camille Dungy said, "From the opening poem and on through this glorious book, Nadia Colburn strikes the difficult balance between celebrating the splendor of the world we inhabit and acknowledging the grief and devastation that none of us can escape. As much a book of love songs as a book of elegies, I Say the Sky is a heart opening and mind sharpening collection."

My hope is that the book will meet you wherever you are and become a companion on your own journey through this complex world.

I have more exciting news: I’m doing something fun for the New Year—this is also a great holiday gift! 🙂

If you buy a copy of the book, you (and anyone you buy a copy for!) will receive FREE access to my brand new I Say the Sky 7-Day Mindful Writing Challenge starting in early January to kick off the new year!

This completely new 7-day writing experience has a low cost—it's just $30—but I will waive that cost if you buy the book instead!

Inspired by my own journey through I Say the Sky, the challenge will invite you on a journey to encounter both your darkness and your light and use poetry as a way to clear past fears and to engage with the world around you. It will invite you to take meaningful engagement with both personal and larger social issues and also to embrace your own creative vision.

I believe that poetry is an interactive activity–not a passive one–and that our reading and writing support each other. So in this challenge, you’ll be guided to write 7 new pieces of work–poetry or prose, whichever you prefer.

So with every purchase of the book, you will receive not only the book itself but also FREE access to this companion Writing Challenge 🙂

In order to receive FREE access to the Challenge, please complete this brief Google form with your order information, and I will sign you up automatically!

If you’re ordering the book for someone else, please put their name and email into the form, and I’ll send them an email in early January. I’ll also email you a printable PDF about the Challenge so you can give it as a tangible gift with the book!

I’d like to close by sharing what some of my other favorite writers have said about I Say the Sky:

Jimmy Santiago Baca: “Colburn connects words to earth, body to family, and family to nature. Here, language is sacred; uttering a word, composing a line, writing a stanza is a prayer of joy even if the context is loss; even loss can be an occasion to be grateful. Colburn has given poetry a breath that revives it, that urges others to see deeper and reclaim their humanity."

Gregory Orr: “These are sharply-focused lyric meditations that memorably dramatize the simplicity and anguished complexity of the world and the heart that fully inhabits it.”

I hope to share the book with you!

with love,

Nadia
